How to join?

Students from all Schools and majors are invited to apply!

The Institute offers a co-curricular certificate program in leadership for high-initiative, high-achieving AUI students.
This program involves students in leadership development workshops, speakers series in addition to individual involvement in student groups, service projects and other leadership development experiences. And you can complete some of your CIP requirements through the LDI.

Students who complete both semesters of this program will receive a certificate and a letter for their file. Student membership is limited to 30 students for the academic year. Student selection will be based on academic standing, plan for completion of AUI’s Community Involvement Program (CIP), letter of motivation and interview.


1. Prepare your application package

Letter of motivation.

Provide a letter (of motivation) that describes your involvement in student organizations, describes your service projects, or articulates why developing as a leader is important to you.

Plan of CIP completion

Tell us what youre doing for your CIP or what you plan to do for your CIP)

Copy  of trancripts

Tell us what you are doing for your CIP or what you plan to do for your CIP)

2. Submit your application 

Submit all application materials via email to or in printed (hard copy) to the mailbox of Duncan Rinehart located in the SBA office in Building 11.


Please be sure that the applicant’s name and email address is on all materials.
